Abdallah Sima to start for Rangers v Real Betis in Europa League group stage clash

Abdallah Sima is set to start for Rangers against Real Betis in the Europa League group stage on Thursday night, according to Football Scotland.

Sima joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Brighton in the summer and has struggled to make an impact in Michael Beale’s side, often playing as a central striker in a two-striker system.

And the Senegalese forward is set to start on the right hand side at Ibrox on Thursday, after being “not so good” so far according to the Scottish news outlet.

“The forward will play on the right hand side and offer help going both ways,” they wrote.

“He’s looked decent when playing in that position but not so good through the middle. His pace could be an important asset for Rangers in this game.”

Time to step up

Beale has got a host of attacking options available to him, even with Brazilian striker Danilo out for a while with a facial injury.

Sima looks set to get the nod ahead of the likes of Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers and Rabbi Matondo, whichis a big show of faith from Beale and now it’s time for Sima to repay that faith..

Rangers need a good result at Ibrox after some tough times recently, and Betis would be a fantastic scalp if they’re capable of pulling it off.

Should Beale opt to continue with his two-striker system then Sima simply needs to find a way to make it work for himself and the team if that’s how he is going to be used, otherwise it’s a waste of a signing and a spot in the squad.

This is his big opportunity, and fans want to start seeing their support and belief repaid quickly before we get to a point of no return with results and performances.
