Ally McCoist offers Michael Beale ‘pressure’ opinion after responding to Neil Warnock Rangers suggestion on talkSPORT
Ally McCoist does not believe Michael Beale is under a “massive degree of pressure” at Rangers in response to a suggestion from talkSPORT co-host Alan Brazil that Neil Warnock could be a contender to take over at Ibrox.
Beale eased some of the growing unrest surrounding his tenure as Rangers battled to a 2-0 win at St Johnstone on Saturday (16 September).
But only a consistent run of victories is now likely to win over the naysayers, and Brazil suggested that veteran boss Warnock, 74, might be a contender now he is leaving his role at Huddersfield Town.

In a conversation on talkSPORT, in quotes reported by Football Scotland, Brazil said: “Neil Warnock for Rangers?”
McCoist replied: “Michael Beale, I wouldn’t imagine, is under any massive degree of pressure, I still think he has a bit of time.”
Brazil then informed McCoist of something Warnock had once said.
“Wee Neil is quoted ‘they are in my heart and I would love to take McCoist as my number two’.”
McCoist replied in typical cheeky fashion, saying: “It’s a brilliant offer from Neil but I cannot leave you, Al. You would go to pieces if I left you. I enjoy our debriefs.”

Not the answer
You have to feel that there was more than air of Brazil being a little cheeky with this suggestion.
That is not to take away from Warnock’s achievements over the course of a very, very…very long career.
It’s just that at the age of 74 it doesn’t exactly scream forward thinking does it? Even if the soundbites ahead of the Old Firm derbies would be absolute gold from the outspoken boss.
In terms of Beale, it’s probably a more terse situation for the boss than McCoist lets on here. A Champions League thumping at the hands of PSV preceded a 1-0 loss to Celtic, two hugely disappointing results on the back of nine summer arrivals.
At a club the size of Rangers you simply do not get time, results are an absolute must. A win over St Johnstone will only keep sack rumours at bay for so long if the wins don’t rack up.
But if Beale were to be dismissed, Warnock is not the answer for Rangers.
