Pundit predicts result of Rangers v Real Betis Europa League clash

Barry Ferguson believes that Rangers will not lose to Real Betis, who will have their heads down after losing to FC Barcelona.

Betis visited Camp Nou on Saturday (16 September) and suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat against Xavi’s men.

They will soon fly into Glasgow to take on Gers at Ibrox on Thursday night (21 September) in the UEFA Europa League.

Ferguson told Go Radio, “They [Rangers] are at home and they are not in great form.

“They [Real Betis] got absolutely battered at the weekend.

“I know it’s Barcelona who have some top players but I would expect Rangers to come away with at least if not three points, a point. They have to take some confidence out of the game at the weekend.”

Betis have a decent side but there’s no reason to believe that they are favourites for this clash.

Rangers have home advantage and have a good recent record in the Europa League so they will be backing themselves.

Danilo’s injury has come at the wrong time for them but that does not mean that there aren’t others in the side capable of stepping up.

It’s not going to be easy but Michael Beale needs to be winning these games if he is to prove he’s the right one for the job.

Sparta Prague and Aris Limassol are easier opponents, undoubtedly, but Gers will want to go further in this tournament and they’ve got to be beating teams like Betis.

It remains to be seen which side shows up as they have been extremely inconsistent this season.

In other Rangers news, a never-seen-before player was spotted in Gers training last week amid a recent international development.
