Rabbi Matondo wowed by Ethan Ampadu as Rangers and Leeds United stars impress

Rangers forward Rabbi Matondo praised the performance of Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu with a message posted on social media.

Former Chelsea player Ampadu once again impressed for Leeds in their 3-0 Championship win at Millwall on Sunday [17 September].

Matondo commented on an image uploaded by Wales team-mate Ampadu on social media [17 September] celebrating one of Joel Piroe’s two goals at The Den.

“Some playaaa,” he said, alongside an emoji of an index finger and thumb rubbing together.

Push on

It was a good weekend for both Ampadu and Matondo, with the latter on target for Rangers in their timely 2-0 win at St Johnstone.

Matondo has had a good start to the season all things considered, even if the Gers have struggled for consistency in terms of results.

The Welshman’s close friend Ampadu helped break up play and start attacks in Leeds’ win at Millwall, meanwhile, in another stellar display.

Ampadu’s role in the side is not all that glamorous, but his hard work certainly does not go unnoticed among his peers.

As for Matondo, he will now be hoping to push on when Rangers host Real Betis in the Europa League group stage on Thursday [21 September].

The aim for the 23-year-old now is to nail down a starting spot in Michael Beale’s favoured starting line-up, which looked a million miles off at the start of the season.

Not quite “some playa” territory yet, but Matondo certainly deserves praise for working hard to win over Gers supporters.

In other Rangers news, Neil McCann has offered a prediction ahead of the Gers’ Europa League campaign getting up and running this week.
