Cody Gakpo sends social media message as Danilo shares Rangers injury update

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo took to Instagram to send a message to Danilo after he shared an update following his injury suffered in a 2-0 Rangers win over St Johnstone on Saturday 16 September.

The Brazilian clashed heads with Liam Gordon in the process of scoring for the Gers in their 2-0 win at St Johnstone on Saturday [16 September].

According to an update provided by the Daily Record on Sunday [17 September], Danilo is now facing “several weeks” on the sidelines after suffering a fractured cheekbone, as confirmed by Michael Beale [BBC Sport, 16 September].

And taking to his personal Instagram account [17 September] to share an update on his recovery from the injury and thank the Rangers fans for their support and concern, Danilo posted:

“A small surgery for my head injury, but I’m good and I hope to be back on the field as soon as possible.

“Thank you all for the concern and support.”

And Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo responded with a heart emoji.

No rush

However long it takes Danilo to recover from the head injury, it is important he does not rush back to the field because any severe eye injury like the one he suffered could have damaging long-term effects.

The collision at McDiarmid Park was nasty to say the least, denying the 24-year-old the chance to celebrate his goal in front of the Gers fans after such a brave and clinical header.

That goal was supposed to help Danilo kick-start his Ibrox career, but as it is he now faces a frustrating period on the sidelines with reports suggesting that he could face “several weeks” out of action.

While Danilo’s injury won’t prove a costly blow for Beale with Cyriel Dessers, and Abdallah Sima both capable of filing the number nine role, it is frustrating to see another key player pick up an injury after Todd Cantwell’s blow.

This is such a critical and crucial year for Beale and his men, as the last few weeks as shown after such severe pressure and potential sack talk, so it’s important Rangers steer clear of such injuries to ensure they are firing on all cylinders with a view to toppling Celtic for trophies once again.

In other Rangers news, one Ibrox player scored a dreadful “3/10” score for his ineffective display v St Johnstone with player ratings shared.
