Gary Keown mocks Michael Beale after what Rangers manager said about messages sent to him
Gary Keown has mocked Michael Beale after he revealed he has received a couple of messages of support following the rising pressure at Rangers.
Writing on pages 108 and 109 of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (17 September), the journalist poked fun at the Gers manager, suggesting the support is hardly like a “great rallying round”.
Keown said it is “no wonder” after he has been heavily critical of Beale following a less-than-ideal start to the season for the Light Blues, who picked up a much-needed 2-0 win at St Johnstone on Saturday (16 September).

“Beale admitted yesterday that all this has been giving him ‘sleepless nights’ of late,” said Keown. “So, where’s the sympathy for him then? Where’s the text from Becks? ‘A couple of people have reached out,’ he said the other day, naming no names.
“Hardly sounds like the great rallying round, does it? Yet it’s no wonder.”
Had to win
It’s a little bit of a strange attack on Beale from Keown because it does seem a bit too personal to mock him for the messages of support he’s received after admitting he’s had “sleepless nights”.
It comes as no real surprise to hear he’s not had the best of times after all the speculation that has been surrounding him over the past couple of weeks, with several people linked with his job.
The Light Blues boss is still very much under pressure to deliver despite picking up the victory against St Johnstone in a game he simply had to win.

Those are the games where anything other than a comfortable win is expected – it’s the fixtures on the big occasions where he has to start delivering.
His next opportunity to do that comes on Thursday (21 September) against Real Betis, where three points to kick off their Europa League campaign would do everyone associated with the club a world of good.
In other Rangers news, a BBC journalist has made a “significant” admission about Beale’s future at Ibrox.
