Todd Cantwell breaks silence with social media message to Rangers fans after ‘no so straightforward’ injury

Todd Cantwell has sent a message to Rangers fans on social media regarding his injury, noting that it’s “not so straightforward”.

Taking to Instagram (15 September), the midfielder promised to be back on the pitch “as soon as [he] can”, but hinted that the injury is worse than expected.

Michael Beale confirmed that Cantwell will miss up to four Rangers matches, making the manager’s job even tougher heading into a high-pressure week.

Cantwell said: “Thank you for all the continued support and messages. I’ll be back as soon as I can, it’s not so straightforward but for now I’ll be with you all as a fan.”

Frustration

Cantwell has been a rare standout for Beale’s side so far this season, and the news of his prolonged absence could have the boss feeling even more nervous.

A knock picked up in the Old Firm loss has forced the Englishman to the sidelines for multiple weeks as the Gers enter a critical period of the season.

The 25-year-old has been quite lucky with injuries in recent seasons, with this being his first setback since moving to Ibrox from Norwich City, but Rangers fans will not care about that at the moment.

Cantwell was vague about the extent of his injury, but he seems ready to support his teammates from the sidelines on his road to recovery. Despite getting injured against Celtic, he remained on the pitch for the full 90 which could have worsened the injury.

With Cantwell out of the picture, Beale will have to rely on second-choice options like John Lundstram or Ryan Jack in the Gers’ upcoming clash against St Johnstone on Saturday (16 September).

Things just keep going from bad to worse at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, Beale has confirmed talks with the Gers board after the tough start to the season.
