Rangers trialist update emerges post injury in Manchester United youth clash

A Rangers trialist picked up a calf injury in the youth game against Manchester United on Friday (15 September), according to Heart & Hand’s James.

The official club partner’s podcaster confirmed that the trialist was one for the youth team and not the senior team.

United ended up winning the contest 1-0 with the likes of Leon King and Zak Lovelace featuring too.

Via Twitter, James wrote, “The young trialist looked to have pulled up at the near side here. Medical staff make there way behind the pitch to go over to him, but as soon as he gets there he runs back on!

“Now he goes down again in the middle of the pitch. Looks a calf strain.

“All I can say on that is it’s a trialist for the academy, not the first team.”

Good experience

United are among the richest clubs in the world and while they’re not known to produce to many talented youngsters, they do pay big money to sign academy talent.

Rangers have made a lot from their academy sales and it’s a good game to test how good their youngsters are against a billionaire-owned Premier League club’s youth side.

More of these games should take place, especially during international breaks, as it will be a good learning experience for the players as well.

It remains to be seen how well the trialist played and whether or not the club makes the decision to sign him permanently for their academy.

It’s good to see that Rangers are doing well with their youth recruitment and hopefully, this trend continues in the future as well as it’s an important backbone of every club.

In other Rangers news, a never-seen-before player was spotted in Gers training on Monday amid a recent international development.
