Michael Beale sack decision at Rangers verdict shared by BBC journalist post St Johnstone win

Failure to beat St Johnstone on Saturday (16 September) could have had adverse repercussions for Michael Beale at Rangers, according to Nick McPheat.

The BBC journalist wrote on their website on Saturday that a draw or a loss could’ve led to a point of no return for the former Queens Park Rangers manager.

Gers are still playing catch up to Celtic in the league after losing on the opening day as well as the Old Firm derby.

McPheat wrote, “It was a day where performance was very much secondary for Beale. Failure to win may well have intensified pressure to a point of no return.

“That said, the display was much more controlled from Rangers. There is still plenty to work on, though, particularly when it comes to attacking fluency.”

Spot on

It was a rare summer in which the Rangers board appear to have delivered on the transfers front and backed the manager unconditionally.

There were plenty of ins and outs at Ibrox but the general consensus was that Beale had got the players in the positions he wanted.

However, that means that the pressure on the manager is far more as he’s got what he demanded.

That rarely is the case at Ibrox given how incompetent the board has been but there was an overhaul before the window opened.

Whether or not the new guard are the right ones will be known a few years down the line but right now, the ball is in Beale’s court.

There needs to be a proper playing philosophy and Gers need to dominate games from start to end, something that’s not been happening.

In other Rangers news, a never-seen-before player was spotted in Gers training on Monday amid a recent international development.
