Kenny Miller reacts to Rangers fan rant on ‘nonsense’ Michael Beale pressure, St Johnstone defeat could force boardroom sack ‘call’
Kenny Miller believes the Rangers board could make a controversial call to sack Michael Beale should they “drop” points against St Johnstone but now is not the time for “knee-jerk” reactions.
The BBC pundit, speaking on Clyde SSB [as transcribed by Daily Record, 15 September] shared his reaction to a Rangers fan who believed that the “nonsense” calls to sack Beale were tantamount to cancel culture.
Miller also shared that the Ibrox fanbase will be “up in arms” were they to lose on Saturday [16 September] leading to a “certain call” by the Rangers board after John Bennett issued his backing on Beale’s position [Daily Record, 6 September] at Ibrox despite some disappointing results.

He said: “Rangers know where they are going, they believe Michael is the man, they gave him the job. It’s not the time for knee-jerk reaction.
“Because if Rangers beat St Johnstone, I don’t care what team it is they should win the next three domestic games. That’s nothing new. You lose heavily to PSV, in that manner, you then lose an Old Firm at home with a depleted Celtic backline and fans voice those frustrations.
“If you go and drop points to St Johnstone, potentially six points behind through five games, Rangers fans will absolutely be up in arms. It would maybe lead the board to make a certain call. Is that the right call? Only time would tell.
Need results
It’s safe to say that Rangers have been rather disappointing, especially given the fact that many expected them to make a strong statement to start out the campaign after a busy and eventful summer of business.
Nine players walked through the doors at Ibrox indicating that Beale knew what he needed and how he was going to line up to challenge Celtic throughout the campaign, but his team have looked far from title contenders with their Old Firm rivals stealing a march in the table once again.

After a few weeks of the new campaign, it seems as if the former QPR manager does not know his best XI as yet and that is rather worrying but there are some who would argue that these things take time as it’s not easy to bed in nine new players in the first month of the season.
However, despite all that, Rangers desperately need results starting against St Johnstone on Saturday and Miller is right, the fanbase will be in total upheaval were they to fail at the weekend which could certainly force the board’s hand on Beale’s position as manager.
It’s all well and good acknowledging the need to win games, but actually getting out on the pitch and earning the three points is an entirely different story.
It’s up to Rangers whether they can rise up through all the current fan and media pressure and deliver some much-needed results.
In other Rangers news, a journalist has shared the board’s stance on Beale’s future.
