Simon Jordan shares ‘could get worse’ Michael Beale Rangers verdict live on talkSPORT

Things “could get worse” for under-pressure Rangers manager Michael Beale, according to talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan.

Jordan believes questions will continue to be asked of the Gers manager if results do not improve at the Glasgow outfit.

Rangers are currently fourth in the Scottish Premiership table, with two wins and two losses from their four matches so far.

“It could be worse,” Jordan said live on talkSPORT. “You could have polls running in national newspapers like Neil Lennon had, telling people how likely he is to be sacked. It could get worse.

“This is the reality of that particular job. Which is that you have got to be better than Celtic, and if you’re not, then you’re going to come under this sort of fire.

“Because the expectation level is established and specific to these two football clubs, and the questions will abound if you’re losing games to Celtic, you’re getting smashed in the Champions League, and you’re not seeming to advance.”

Pressure on

The pressure is definitely on Beale, but he seemingly has the backing of the Rangers board for now. The recent international break would have been both good and bad for the man in the Ibrox dugout.

On the one hand, he would have perhaps benefitted from some time on the training ground, not having matches to worry about.

But at the same time, he would have been keen to get back out onto the pitch and prove his worth to those criticising him.

Now the international break is over and the manager has a chance to rebuild some much-needed credibility when his club travel to St. Johnstone on Saturday (16 September).

The travelling side will still be favourites for the league clash, but the hosts will definitely make the most of the pressure on Beale to try and claim a shock win.

An away victory meanwhile will definitely ease the pressure on the Gers manager, but perhaps only for a brief period.
