Jim White shares what senior Rangers source tells him about latest Michael Beale exit twist

Rangers have not made an approach to hire Graham Potter, a senior Ibrox source has told Jim White.

The Sun reported on Wednesday (13 September) that the Gers had made an approach to the former Chelsea and Brighton manager as they look to replace Michael Beale.

However, talkSPORT host White has been in contact with a source at Ibrox and he’s been told there’s no truth in the supposed approach for Potter.

Rangers

Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday morning (14 September, 10:43am), as shown on YouTube on Friday (15 September), White said: “It was reported – and it continues to be reported – that Graham Potter has rejected an approach from Rangers.

“So what we did this morning was go to a senior source at Rangers. This senior source tells me the story, the report, is false.”

No truth in Potter – but what about Beale?

It’s fair enough if Rangers want to say to White that there’s been no approach for Potter.

It doesn’t prove whether it’s 100 per cent true or not because a club making a failed approach for an out-of-work manager who’s well out of their league isn’t going to be something their proud of.

However, we’ll take it at face value and go along with the fact this approach for Potter hasn’t happened.

But what about Beale?

He’s lost 50 per cent of his Scottish Premiership games this season, one of which was a home defeat against Celtic.

He’s spent millions and millions on players he doesn’t trust to name in the starting line-up in big games and spent last season pandering to those who were destined to leave instead of working on those he knew would be staying.

Beale has also overseen an exit from the Champions League so there’s not really much keeping him at Ibrox right now, is there?

He’s skating on thin ice and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him go in the coming weeks if there’s not a significant improvement.
