Borna Barisic green light only thing stopping winter Rangers exit to join Dinamo Zagreb
Only a “yes” from Borna Barisic is currently stopping him leaving Rangers and joining Dinamo Zagreb in January, according to Germanijak.
Writing on their official website (13 September), the Croatian news outlet report that the European club want to sign the left-back in January to bolster their defensive options.
A move this summer was on the agenda but proved to be too expensive, but as Barisic enters the final 12 months of his contract Zagreb are hopeful of convincing him to sign a pre-contract agreement in January ahead of a summer move.

“And, Borna Barisic would be winter bingo for Dinamo, as we know, the Blues did not give up on the Croatian representative,” they wrote.
“He has entered the last year of his contract, compensation should not be a problem for Dinamo, it is more questionable if Barisic wants to join Maksimir or if he has other plans.
“The offer will probably not be lacking.”
Blessing in disguise
Michael Beale is quite clearly a big fan of Barisic, hence him continuing to be the first-choice left-back at Ibrox despite his poor performances.
But it’s no coincidence that with Beale’s future a major talking point right now and in the last few weeks, Barisic’s future is up in the air too as he is in the final year of his deal.

A new manager could well look to see him move on anyway, and with one year left on his deal January would be the final opportunity for the club to cash in.
There is every chance that between now and then Barisic gets offered a new deal by the board and all of this becomes inconsequential, but right now it could be a blessing if Dinamo Zagreb come in with a bid to take him off us early.
If the money is reinvested into the squad or current options like Dujon Sterling, Ridvan Yilmaz or even Adam Devine are given an opportunity then it could well be worthwhile for Rangers to cash in.
