Rangers handed much-needed confidence boost amid Ibrox negativity as contract news emerges

It is fair to say that Rangers have not had the best of starts to the new season, with pressure already piling on manager Michael Beale.

The Ibrox outfit currently sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership table, with two wins and two losses from their four matches.

One of those losses came against fierce rivals Celtic at the beginning of this month, with that defeat coming in front of the Ibrox faithful.

Making the 1-0 loss cut deeper was the fact that it immediately followed the club’s exit from the Champions League, with Rangers losing their qualifying play-off 7-3 on aggregate against PSV.

Fortunately, however, there has been some positive news emerging from Ibrox, with youngster Bailey Rice signing a contract extension at Ibrox on Tuesday (12 September), as per the official Rangers website.

In further positive news for the Gers, Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that the 16-year-old had been attracting interest from many clubs, but decided to stay with the Scottish outfit.

Rice may not be a regular first-team player just yet, but the fact he has committed his future to the club until May 2026 speaks volumes.

It not only shows that the club are capable of convincing talented youngsters to continue their development at Ibrox, but it also shows they are already thinking about the future, regardless of who will be in the first-team dugout.

Having made his debut in a 3-0 win over Livingston in February, the young midfielder will no doubt have his eyes on more Rangers appearances in the coming months.

In other Rangers news, the media has given a Gers player a 6.5/10 rating in a recent international clash.
