Graham Potter rejects chance to replace Michael Beale as Rangers manager
Rangers have approached Graham Potter about replacing Michael Beale as manager at Ibrox, according to a report by The Sun.
Writing on their official website (13 September), the UK news outlet report that the Ibrox club approached the former Chelsea and Brighton manager’s representatives about taking the manager’s job.
But Potter turned the approach down as he waits on the right job after his horror spell at Stamford Bridge, leaving Beale still in charge and fighting for his job.

“Graham Potter has turned down a return to management with Scottish side Rangers after being approached to replace under-fire Michael Beale,” they wrote.
“Rangers have lost two of their first four Scottish Premiership games, including an Old Firm derby, and were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers thanks to a 5-1 second-leg thumping by PSV Eindhoven.
“That has led Rangers bosses to explore their options and an approach was made to Potter’s representatives.
“However, the former Chelsea and Brighton boss was not interested in discussing the job.”
Wow
There has been plenty of talk over the international break about the future of Beale after the defeat to Celtic and crashing out of the Champions League.
Beale said in the summer that his aim for this stage of the season was to be top of the league, in the quarter-finals of the League Cup and in the group stages of the Champions League and he’s managed only one of those things.

With nine first-team signings in the summer it’s very much his squad these days, and he has limited excuses for the poor performances so far.
But going for Potter is a real statement of intent from the board considering his reputation after the job he did at Brighton, and proves they are very keen on trying to take the club to the next level if they can.
It’s not really a shock that Potter turned us down considering the payoff he would have got from Chelsea and the way he failed there, but it’s good to know the club don’t want to stand still and are looking at alternatives in case Beale can’t turn things around.
In other Rangers news, first-team ace could leave in next 48 hours after huge Tuesday development.
