Michael Beale still has the backing of the Rangers staff despite mounting pressure
Despite mounting pressure after Rangers’ poor start to the season, Michael Beale still seems to have the backing of his coaching staff at Ibrox.
The Glasgow club have had a difficult start to the campaign, including a huge defeat at the hands of PSV to miss out on the Champions League group stages and an uninspiring display in the first Old Firm derby of the season, seeing calls for Beale to be sacked.
But despite the growing criticism of the former QPR boss, it appears as though he still has the support of his coaching team, with Harry Watling, one of the Gers coaches who made the switch with Beale, posting a clear message of support.

A regular poster on social media, Watling shared a photo of him and the Rangers boss together on the pitch on his Instagram story (9 September) with the simple caption of the red, white and blue colours indicating the fact that they are still focused on the Gers.

Rightfully, given the poor start to the campaign, it feels as though the pressure has been turned up on Beale and his side to begin putting in the sort of performance that is expected of Rangers and whether or not a decision on his future is imminent, Watling’s post shows they are aware of the anger from some fans.
It will be impossible for anyone involved in Rangers to not have an idea of just how unhappy fans have become in the early stages of the season, but ultimately it’s not the supporters’ decision to make and it seems as though Beale will be allowed to attempt to turn things around.
But it feels as though we’re entering a sort of last-chance period for the 43-year-old where it could only take one more poor result for his position, and therefore his coaching staff, to come under some sort of threat. With plenty of speculation already over who could take over at Ibrox.

Saturday’s (16 September) visit to St Johnstone allows Beale and his coaching team to make or break their time at Ibrox. A win would likely ensure any talk of imminent sacking dies down, whereas a defeat or draw to the Scottish Premiership’s bottom side would ensure the Rangers boss was all but finished at Ibrox.
Ultimately, it won’t matter too much how much backing Beale has from those coaches around him, after all, it won’t be them who decide his future should this bad run continue.
