Hugh Keevins: Michael Beale on death row after fallout of ‘epic proportions’ at Rangers
Michael Beale is on death row at Rangers on the back of the Old Firm defeat to Celtic on 3 September, according to Hugh Keevins.
Writing on the Daily Record website, the journalist said that there has been a fallout of “epic proportions” at Ibrox since the 1-0 defeat.
He added that the Gers boss is “temporarily or otherwise” on death row despite club sources telling the Daily Record on 5 September that there is “no truth whatsoever” in the reports linking them with Yokohama manager Kevin Muscat.

“Celtic and Rangers supporters measure success by using one metric – how well have they done against the other lot,” said Keevins. “That’s what decides the length of a manager’s shelf like at Ibrox and Celtic Park. The game itself, if we’re being absolutely truthful, was desperately low on quality for a country’s flagship fixture.
“But the fallout since it ended has been of epic proportions. Beale is, temporarily or otherwise, on Death Row. Rangers have had to publicly deny interest in another manager, Kevin Muscat of Yokohama.”
Tough to recover
It’s going to be extremely tough for Beale to recover from the situation he is currently in on the back of a couple of damaging defeats.
The 5-1 humbling against PSV was a real eye-opener as to where the Gers squad is currently at and the loss to a patched-up Celtic side was the last thing the Rangers manager really needed.
It comes as no surprise to hear that there has been a major fallout on the back of the latest defeat as the pressure had been building since the opening day against Kilmarnock.

Although the club have backed Beale in the transfer market, there has been a feeling that the board haven’t been completely sure about the Englishman over the past couple of months.
The only way he’s going to be able to stop all the noise is by picking up points in the big games because those are the days when you’re really going to be judged as the Light Blues boss.
