Jo Potter expecting ‘tough’ week as Rangers Women look to extend their unbeaten run
Jo Potter expects Dundee United to be “tough” opposition as her Rangers side prepares for another three-game week beginning with a trip to Foundation Park.
The Gers face Dundee on Sunday (10 September) before playing Motherwell and Montrose Ladies in the following week as Foster’s side look to close the two-point gap on league leaders Celtic in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.
Despite the congested fixture schedule, the Light Blues boss has been eager to avoid using it as an excuse for sub-par performances, recognising that despite their lowly league position, Dundee will pose a threat following their first win of the season over Hamilton Academical.

Speaking to the Rangers website on Thursday (7 September) she said: “We don’t make excuses for it, we get out on the pitch and we do our work. It is going to be a tough game and the start of another tough week but we are ready to go.
“We know that we are going to have to break teams down and be patient. Not forcing possession and keeping the ball and being comfortable keeping it. It is something that we are getting used to and we are definitely getting better at.
“There is elements of consistency and still I need to get these players in their units to get used to each other. It is really important that we keep players fresh and get them through a three-game week.”
Progress is being made
The former England international has had her side playing some excellent football in the opening five matches of the season and barring a draw with third-place Glasgow City, the Light Blues haven’t dropped a single point in the early stages of the season.
However, much like with the men’s side, Celtic have opened up a gap, pulling two points clear as they have comfortably won their opening games of the season, scoring a ridiculous 34 goals in five games and only conceding three times.

To stay in the race at the top, the Gers can’t afford to slip up again and Foster, having only taken over the side in June, knows that but having implemented a new style of play this season, there is always going to be the chance of a few teething problems creeping into the side.
Although a trip to Dundee is no easy task, the Rangers boss will be hoping her side has enough to secure three points before doing the same in games against Motherwell and Montrose in quick succession, to ensure they keep the pressure on Celtic above them.
