Michael Beale successfully averts Rangers job ‘crisis’ if he manages key achievement – Keith Jackson

John Bennett will be “banking” on Michael Beale riding out the “storm” at Rangers by the turn of the year, according to Keith Jackson.

The journalist wrote on the Daily Record website on 6 September that the Ibrox chairman wasn’t going to sack the under pressure manager during the international break, noting that having “personally backed” Beale’s “massive rebuild” this summer Bennett will need his manager to “establish calm” by the end of 2023.

According to Jackson, if Beale is able to qualify from the Europa League group stage he will have “successfully averted” the “current crisis”.

Rangers

The manager is under major pressure already this season, with calls for him to go exploding after the 1-0 defeat by Celtic on Sunday (3 September).

Distance

Getting through the Europa League group is some way off and if the current stuttering form continues Bennett may be forced to change his mind.

It is going to need to be a virtually 100% record for some weeks for the clamour around the manager’s job to die down.

The new campaign was supposed to be the beginning of Beale’s tenure for real after he took over a season that was mostly lost in the early months under Giovanni van Bronckhorst last term.

Rangers

But despite being able to bring in a whole host of his own players to rebuild the squad in his image the team has gone backwards and he is running the risk of letting the season get away from him early.

So much of an overhaul at once was always going to be difficult to navigate but three defeats already is a worse return than most expected.

However, the problem for Bennett is that the squad is just that now, built in Beale’s image, so were there to be another managerial change it is almost certainly going to result in another set of comings and goings for the next man in.

Beale probably needs time to have a real chance to get this set of players firing, and he would surely get it if he was grinding out results, but since he isn’t another campaign is already hanging in the balance.

In other Rangers news, an early change has been “anticipated” and an English replacement is already been “pushed forward” as a replacement.
