Birmingham City line up Wayne Rooney amid Rangers and John Eustace speculation

Birmingham City are lining up a move for Wayne Rooney after John Eustace has been linked with a move to Rangers, according to John Percy.

The Daily Telegraph journalist reported on 7 September that the D.C. United boss has been identified as a “genuine contender” to take over at the Championship club in case their manager leaves for Ibrox.

Eustace has been linked with the Light Blues [Daily Mail] after recording an impressive start to the season, with West Midlands club unbeaten in their opening five league games.

Interesting

This is incredibly interesting to hear that Birmingham are already lining up a replacement for Eustace after the recent links to Rangers.

The Gers board have backed Michael Beale to remain in his post at Ibrox for the moment in time, but that situation could quickly change if results don’t improve.

It’s no surprise to hear that the club are interested in the Birmingham boss after he has done an excellent job of steadying the ship and has got off to a strong start in this campaign.

Rangers

The Telegraph reported that he has also been linked with a move to Swansea City, so the move to line up Rooney could also be in case Eustace makes the switch to Wales.

But the reports coming out of the Midlands club will be uncomfortable for Beale to hear as he knows his job is currently on the line and that results must quickly improve.

In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has said what the Gers need to do as a Beale verdict is shared.
