Rangers woes mount as Todd Cantwell pictured in leg brace after Old Firm derby
Todd Cantwell has been pictured in a leg brace following Rangers clash with Celtic on Sunday (3 September), as shared by the Glasgow Times.
Aidan Smith reported on the website on Tuesday (5 September) that the Rangers midfielder was spotted and filmed in Glasgow airport sporting a brace on his left leg following the defeat in the Old Firm derby.
Cantwell played the full 90 minutes at Ibrox, putting in his usual high-energy style of performance and was involved in a heavy clash with Daizen Maeda during the second half where he received lengthy treatment, appearing to still be feeling the effects of the knock.

Michael Beale doesn’t need anything else to go wrong for him in the early stages of the season and both he and Rangers fans will be hoping Cantwell’s brace is more for security and prevention than any serious injury that could impact both his and the Light Blues’ campaign.
A worry
In what was an incredibly drab display by Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday, Cantwell was one of the few bright sparks as he often is, working his hardest in an attempt to drive Beale’s side up the pitch and deploying his usual combative style in the middle of the park.
But it may well have come at a cost judging by the size of the large brace around his left leg. The advantage for the former Norwich City man is that it couldn’t have come at a better time with Cantwell now afforded two weeks without fixtures to return to fitness.
The 25-year-old has already made six appearances this season and has been an ever-present starter since being left out of the starting XI in the opening-day defeat to Kilmarnock and his fitness will be vital to Beale being able to turn round the Gers’ poor start to the campaign.

When the International break ends, the Light Blues have the task of navigating both domestic and European football while Beale continues to fight for his job, with good results required quickly. That task becomes a lot easier when Cantwell is in your side, so Beale will be hoping that the gap in fixtures will let the midfielder return.
There is always the chance as well that Cantwell’s brace could be nothing but a precaution as it is unlikely he picked anything too serious up in the Old Firm as he finished the game after he clashed with Maeda.
