Rangers make contact with Kevin Muscat as Michael Beale replacement eyed after loss v Celtic
Michael Beale’s future as Rangers manager could be under threat after the club made contact with Kevin Muscat’s camp, according to Aussie Scout.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (5 September), the Australian scout account reports that former defender Muscat is considered a candidate to replace the current boss after defeat to Celtic left him under big pressure.
In fact, they go as far as to report that contact has been made about potentially taking over although there has been no talk of Beale being sacked from any official channels as of now.
“Understand that Yokohama FM manager and ex-Socceroo Kevin Muscat is considered by Rangers as a candidate to replace Michael Beale were Beale to leave the club,” he wrote.
“Contact is believed to have been made with associates of Muscat.
“Muscat won the J-League with Yokohama FM last season.”
Madness
When Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked by Rangers a little over a year ago, Muscat was one of the names linked to the role back then too.
Therefore it’s no surprise to see that he’s being linked again even though Beale hasn’t been sacked yet, because he is under big pressure from fans currently.

But it would be crazy to sack Beale right now after giving him such a big summer window where nine of his players were brought in and we’ve only played a handful of games.
Everyone knew it would take time for the squad to gel together properly and while many fans would have been expecting better performances than we’ve seen so far, we cannot ignore the context behind it.
He needs time to show if he can deliver on the things that have been promised or not, and it’s currently too soon to make the final decision that he can’t. Give him time, for now.
