Official Rangers partner share update amid Kevin Muscat ‘contact’ to replace Michael Beale
Rangers have denied making contact with Kevin Muscat to replace Michael Beale as manager after defeat to Celtic, report Heart and Hand podcast.
Writing on their official Twitter account (5 September), the club’s official partner were responding to reports from Australia that ex-Gers defender Muscat had been contacted about the role.
But Beale is still in a job and is not expected to be sacked during the current international break, leaving the club with no choice but to address the rumours themselves directly.
“Nothing in Muscat reports,” they wrote.
“No contact with the club.”
Good
It makes plenty of sense that the club may be interested in Muscat whenever Beale eventually moves on, but that isn’t now and nor should it be.
There’s no argument that the boss and the squad have underperformed so far this early on in the season, and it has caused frustration after losing to Celtic again and crashing out of the Champions League before the group stages.
But it’s a brand new squad trying to get to grips with what the manager wants to do and it’s too early to make such a drastic decision after how much he was backed in the transfer window.

Now though the club need to support him and backing him publicly is one way of doing that. Fans are rightly frustrated, but this squad needs our support to get better and start competing again.
Muscat is hardly a name of reputation to drop someone for immediately either, but if this situation doesn’t improve he will certainly be one name to watch in the coming weeks and months.
