Kris Boyd and James McFadden in agreement over Rangers transfers as 100% Lawrence Shankland claim made

Rangers should have brought Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland to Ibrox this summer, according to Kris Boyd and James McFadden.

The 28-year-old has scored five goals from his nine matches in all competitions so far this season, three of which came in Europa Conference League qualifying.

Rangers manager Michael Beale brought nine new players to the club in the transfer window, four of which are forwards.

“For the money that has been spent, why don’t you go and get a Lawrence Shankland?” Boyd said on Sky Sports. “Somebody who knows the league, who scores goals.

McFadden then interjected, saying: “By the way, there is more to Shankland’s game than goals as well,” with Boyd replying: “100%.”

McFadden concluded: “His all-round play is excellent. I agree with you. You look at the money that has been spent. Shankland is a player that would score goals in a Rangers team, no doubt.”

Transfer regrets?

Rangers absolutely needed new faces in the door for the new season, so heavy recruitment was always expected at Ibrox this summer.

That is because the club fell way behind Celtic in all competitions last time out, and also because many senior players left the club upon the expiry of their contracts.

That included star trio Allan McGregor, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, meaning Beale needed to strengthen his squad in various areas.

And the man in the dugout put a real emphasis on new attackers, with Sam Lammers, Danilo and Cyriel Dessers all arriving on permanent deals, with Abdallah Sima joining the club on a season-long loan.

But they haven’t quite had the impact that many expected them to have in Glasgow in these early stages, with their struggles becoming clear in both league and European action.

In a miserable week for the Gers, the club were dumped out of the Champions League by PSV before a league loss to fierce rivals Celtic.

In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has shared what Beale did during the match against Celtic that left Gers fans “not happy.”
