Rangers transfer news as Ben Davies on Stoke City radar on deadline day
Exit-linked Rangers defender Ben Davies is on Stoke City’s radar, according to Football Scotland.
The online outlet reported the Championship club are keeping tabs on the former Liverpool centre-back ahead of the transfer window slamming shut at 11pm on Friday (1 September).
However, they did add that Davies’ wages at Ibrox are making conditions for a deal problematic, with even a loan switch difficult to contemplate for Stoke.

On Thursday, the 4th Official reported that Davies is not keen on departing Ibrox despite Rangers being willing to let him leave as they want to bring Leicester City’s Harry Souttar to Glasgow.
You should reconsider your stance Ben
Davies has somewhat blown hot and cold since arriving at Ibrox in July 2022, making 25 Scottish Premiership starts last season but not always fully convincing.
The 30-year-old has yet to feature at all this campaign, albeit he did begin the campaign with an injury, and has fallen down the pecking order behind Harry Souttar’s brother John.
With Rangers already looking well stocked in the position and wanting to bring Souttar in from Leicester, it does look as though Davies faces a tall order to break back into the fold under Michael Beale.

At his age, Davies is by no means over the hill, but he will want to be playing as much football as possible to avoid falling by the wayside and becoming a forgotten man.
You can understand his desire to stay and fight for his place, there is little possibility of him playing for a team in European football elsewhere for instance but a move to ambitious Stoke is one he should not rule out.
In other Rangers news, Scott Wright could be headed out of the door at Ibrox today.
