Rangers reject transfer approach for Ben Davies before deadline tonight
Rangers have rejected a last-minute loan offer for defender Ben Davies from English side Stoke City, according to Chris Jack of The Herald.
The newspaper shared via their website on 1 September that Potters boss Alex Neil is keen to be reunited with Davies, whom he managed during their time at Preston North End in the Championship, with the situation ongoing in recent weeks.
Despite the ongoing talks, Rangers turned down the bid as it was not deemed acceptable for the defender who will look to challenge Connor Goldson and John Souttar for a starting spot in the heart of the defence at Ibrox.

Keeping the strength in depth
Retaining Davies’ presence at the club is an important move for Rangers, and they look to keep their strength in depth which will help them to be competitive as they look to challenge for all four competitions they are involved in this season.
For Rangers, the expectation is that they will win at least one trophy this season, having had a busy summer transfer window with plenty of top-quality incoming players, as Michael Beale looks to set up his ideal squad to push for the club to win more silverware.
Rangers had been keen on bringing in a new defender this summer, as they were linked with a move for Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, among others, with the Englishman ultimately deciding not to make the move to Glasgow despite Beale’s desire.

Davies will now look to compete for a starting place at Ibrox and is likely to have an impact throughout a season where rotation will be necessary, whether it is due to injuries, fatigue, or simply rotation with fixture congestion.
In other Rangers news, the club’s deadline day hinges on one player, with Beale issuing a ‘priced out’ update.
