Harry Souttar wants move to Rangers before transfer deadline strikes

Harry Souttar wants to move to Rangers before the transfer window closes, with the clock ticking for a move to be completed, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on its website on Friday (1 September) that the Light Blues remain keen on launching a late move for the Leicester City defender, should they be able to complete a deal to see Ben Davies exit Ibrox this summer.

Championship side Stoke City are interested in signing Davies on a temporary deal before the transfer window closes and the loan switch would free the Gers to sign Souttar who wants to move Ibrox this summer having fallen down the pecking order at the King Power.

Rangers

Earlier on deadline day, Michael Beale had ruled out a potential temporary switch for Davies away from Ibrox and had revealed that he believed that Rangers had finished all of their incoming business for the summer [Sky Sports, 1 September].

Late, late show

Just when it looked like the busiest transfer window at Ibrox was finished, there could be one final twist in the tale with a move that has dominated the back pages of Glasgow newspapers for the majority of the last month.

Souttar would be an excellent addition to Michael Beale’s ranks this summer and would be a likely upgrade on Davies who has been steady but unremarkable throughout his time in Scotland and would help the Gers fight for the Scottish Premiership title this year.

There are a lot of moving parts to this transfer saga that need to be completed for Rangers to get their man and they are reliant on Stoke making their move for Davies before they can push on in the hunt for Souttar in the final hours.

Hopefully, the Potters will act quickly if their interest in the former Liverpool defender is genuine, leaving Beale and the Lighty Blues plenty of time to get their ducks in a row to complete the signing of the Australian defender. If a move is possible, it could be completed fairly quickly with Souttar being so keen on making the switch to Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, Scott Wright could be set to leave the Gers before the end of the window
