Rangers transfer update emerges on Harry Souttar deal at Ibrox
Dean Jones has been told that a late Rangers move for Leicester defender Harry Souttar should not be “disregarded” by anyone.
The Leicester defender has been linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, where he would link up with his brother John in the heart of the Rangers defence.
Michael Beale told Sky Sports (Leicestershire Live, 27 August) that there was some truth to the speculation surrounding potential transfer deals, amid persistent rumours over a move for the defender, leading fans to conclude the deal must be on the cards.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT on 31 August, the former Eurosport journalist claimed: “I like the way that Beale talks about stuff, and, lots of the time, he tries to be direct and clear in his answers. He doesn’t shirk away from many.
“It feels like fringe players will be offloaded more than anything. But the Souttar interest has caught my attention the most recently because Beale did play this one down, but the links have persisted.
“I’m actually told this is not one we should be disregarding. So, I’d say that this is the one I’ve got my eyes on the most at the moment with Rangers. I don’t think there will be loads of transfer activity, but Souttar could be an interesting one.”

Definitely one to watch
There has been a sense of intrigue around this transfer since the rumours first emerged, largely due to the fact Rangers could end up with two brothers starting in their defensive line, and that intrigue looks set to drag out until the transfer window closes.
Jones’ warning of a lack of transfer activity will not be too much of a concern for fans of the Glasgow side, after what has been a busy and turbulent transfer window with plenty of incoming deals already arriving at Ibrox.
The Australian international centre-back who impressed fans at the 2022 World Cup, which earned him a move to Leicester before they were relegated from the Premier League, could be an option for the Glasgow club as Beale looks to add reinforcements to his defence.
The Rangers boss is keen to bolster his defensive options after a shaky start to the season, with individual errors costing them points, particularly in the opening-day defeat to Livingston.
Souttar would also provide an effective aerial presence to deal with some of the SPFL’s more physical strikers, as well as proving a threat from set pieces in the opposition’s box.
This is one to watch on deadline day.
