‘Strong chance’ Glen Kamara leaves Rangers for Leeds United before transfer deadline – Phil Hay
There is a strong chance that Glen Kamara will leave Rangers and join Leeds United as part of a double deal before Friday’s deadline, reports Phil Hay.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (31 August), The Athletic journalist reports that the Whites are set to sign Bulgaria international Ilia Gruev before the deadline, but want another midfielder to go with him.
Leeds have interest in Celtic star Matt O’Riley too, but according to Hay there is a “strong chance” that Kamara is the second addition before the deadline on Friday night.
“Werder Bremen’s Ilia Gruev poised to undergo a medical with Leeds United,” he wrote. “Close to getting that deal done.
“Likely to see another CM arrive before the deadline, with eyes on O’Riley and Kamara. Strong chance it’s Kamara.”
Perfect
It’s been a bit more of a slog than many people expected to get rid of Kamara this summer, but it’s finally happening it seems.
The player doesn’t want to be here and Michael Beale is more than happy to let him go, having even let him train alone while his future is sorted out.

But with a deal not yet done and the deadline a little over 24 hours away at this point, some fans were beginning to get a bit concerned that it wouldn’t happen at all and he would have to be reintegrated or left to rot while we pay his wages.
Finally though Leeds have stepped forward with a concrete move seemingly and a deal is now expected to be done before the deadline, meaning we were worried for nothing.
Thanks for your service Glen, but it’s the right time for everyone to go our separate ways and we’ll enjoy the £5m we bring in for you.
