Simon Jordan shares Rangers ‘tragedy’ verdict live on talkSPORT after Champions League loss v PSV
Rangers are a “mile off” successfully competing in the Champions League, according to talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan.
The Scottish side bundled out of the competition at the hands of Dutch outfit PSV on Wednesday (30 August) in a 5-1 loss.
The play-off clash ended 7-3 on aggregate in favour of PSV following the 2-2 first leg draw between the two clubs at Ibrox.

“The tragedy is, as much as we may want this Scottish league to be competitive and be what it was once before, producing wonderful players that came through it, that time has changed,” Jordan said live on talkSPORT.
“The economics of football have changed and the Scottish leagues have been left behind. Surviving on broadcast deals of £30million shared across 40 clubs is not going to enhance the opportunity for the Scottish clubs to get any better.
“When you get to the competitive end of professional football and you’re competing against the elite, whether Scots like it or not, they are a mile off.
“When it comes to this situation, tragically the Rangers’ of the world are not amongst the discussion when it comes to competing in significant European football.”

Miserable evening
There was plenty of excitement from Rangers fans in the build-up to the second leg clash, having watched their team battle it out expertly with the Dutch side in the first leg at Ibrox.
But the excitement and optimism quickly fizzled as the visitors fell apart in Eindhoven, much to the dismay of Beale in the dugout.
The hosts were on fire in the final third as they ripped through the Rangers defence, spurred on by a boisterous crowd.
It leaves Beale in a tricky position in the Ibrox dugout, with the manager having completely revamped his squad this summer.
A total of nine new players have arrived at the Scottish club, and they really need to repay the faith the Gers have shown in them over the coming months.
Unfortunately, they have been handed their biggest task yet up next, with noisy neighbours Celtic travelling to Ibrox on Sunday (3 September) in the Scottish Premiership.
In other Rangers news, Gheorghe Hagi has shared a “twice as good” Ianis Hagi prediction after his Gers loan transfer.
