Report shares if Rangers likely to make last-gasp transfer move to replace injured Borna Barisic
Rangers are unlikely to move for a replacement for Borna Barisic before Friday’s deadline after he suffered an injury against PSV, report Glasgow Times.
Writing on their official website (31 August), the news outlet report that the Croatian defender is a “major” doubt for the Old Firm clash with Celtic on Sunday after suffering a muscle injury that forced him off on Wednesday night (30 August).
But despite the injury blow Rangers are “highly unlikely” to try and sign a replacement before Friday’s 11pm deadline, instead relying on Dujon Sterling, Adam Devine and Ridvan Yilmaz to cover.

“Borna Barisic is facing a race against time to be fit for Sunday’s Old Firm derby,” they wrote.
“The left back hobbled off injured against PSV last night in Rangers’ heavy Champions League play-off defeat.
“The Croatian defender appeared to pull a muscle around the 50-minute mark in Eindhoven, with the game still 1-0 at that point.
“It’s highly unlikely that Rangers will dip into the transfer market for another left back with just two days remaining in the window.
“It’s not yet known how serious Barisic’s injury is yet, with Beale likely to clear this up in his pre-match press conference tomorrow.”
Sensible
Injuries are a part of football and with the transfer window set to close on Friday night, we can’t be running to the market every time a player gets hurt.
Barisic is likely to miss a few weeks at least with a muscle injury but we have a two-week gap coming up with the international break, and after that the hope would be that Yilmaz is closer to 100% fitness to fill in.

If not we have several options who can fill in for the short-term, and if the manager didn’t feel a new left-back was needed all summer he is obviously comfortable with the options that he already has.
Not having him for the clash with Celtic is obviously a big blow though as the manager and team want to be as close to full strength as possible to be able to take advantage and move ahead of them in the table.
But the boss will need to find an alternative now, and that won’t involve dipping into the market one more time.
In other Rangers news, “strong chance” that one ace leaves as part of last-gasp double deal before Friday’s deadline.
