Rangers transfer news: Glen Kamara exit update as Leeds United deal goes down to the wire amid Ilia Gruev signing
Glen Kamara’s departure from Rangers to Leeds United is now “expected to go through” before the transfer deadline, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The English local paper reported on their website Thursday (31 August) after the announcement of an alternative midfield signing at Elland Road in Ilia Gruev that Kamara, 27, is still set to join him at the Championship side “before tomorrow’s deadline”.
YEP journalist Graham Smyth had questioned the likelihood of the long-mooted deal just a day earlier after so long in the offing without the Whites having “pulled the trigger”.

But a breakthrough looks to have arrived the day before the window shuts and there is expected to be enough time to get the mooted £5million deal over the line.
Finally
It was certainly starting to get edgy as the clock ticked down under 48 hours until the deadline but at last Kamara looks to be getting his move and Rangers should be banking some important money.
It may be that Leeds were minded to drop the deal if they had landed another target in the past week but with certain other moves falling through they have decided to bring the Finland international in.
Since Kamara has been out of first-team consideration throughout the early weeks of the season it would have been a major upheaval to try to reintegrate him when Michael Beale looks to have clearly moved on in his thinking.

Following the dreadful 5-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven last night arguably no options should be off the table at Ibrox, but with the former Dundee midfielder looking just as ready to leave as Rangers are to sell him he wouldn’t likely have been a viable answer.
He should get far more opportunities in the English Championship than he was expected to get under Beale in Glasgow, and with a sale price around 100 times what he was bought for it represents a successful deal all round.
Whether there is time for any of the cash to be used on a late incoming deal before the Friday night deadline is perhaps doubtful, but if there isn’t a major improvement for the Saturday Old Firm clash with Rangers it is likely going to be badly needed for the winter window.
In other Rangers news, Kamara could be followed to England by another first-team Gers man with multiple teams looking to snap him up.
