Neil Lennon agrees with Lee McCulloch on how Celtic can beat Rangers at Ibrox
Neil Lennon agrees with Lee McCulloch that scoring first is “crucial” if Celtic are to defeat Rangers in next weekend’s Old Firm showdown.
Rangers welcome Celtic to Ibrox on Sunday [3 September] sitting one point behind their fierce rivals in the Scottish Premiership after three games.
Former Celtic player and manager Lennon, and Rangers great McCulloch, have given their predictions ahead of the match.
“I think, as with a lot of the Old Firm games, the first goal is really, really, really important,” McCulloch told PLZ Soccer on Wednesday [30 August].
Lennon interjected with the word “crucial”, before McCulloch added: “If Rangers use the fans and the atmosphere, because Celtic aren’t as free-flowing as they should be, I’ll go for a narrow 1-0 win to Rangers.”
Massive match
Just four games into the league campaign, this Old Firm clash has the feel of being a huge match.
Rangers had a huge Champions League play-off tie with PSV to deal with on Wednesday [30 August], but all focus is now on the Celtic match.
Both teams have already dropped points this campaign – Rangers losing at Kilmarnock and Celtic drawing with St Johnstone.

The Gers have recovered well since that shock opening-game loss, beating Livingston 4-0 and Ross County 2-0 since then.
Michael Beale’s men appear to have found their feet and will be confident heading into the meeting with Celtic, which could yet have a huge bearing on where the title ends up come next May.
And as Lennon says, scoring first will go a long way to deciding who comes out on top this weekend.
In other Rangers news, a player has broken his silence on the back of leaving Ibrox.
