Rangers can expect £12m+ cash windfall after development in last 12 hours
Rangers can expect to receive a £12million cash windfall after dropping into the Europa League as a pot two side following their Champions League qualifier defeat to PSV, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on page 69 of its print edition on 31 August that the influx of cash will come before ticket sales and money for points won is received after learning that they will play in Europe’s second-tier competition this season.
It said there will be repercussions for Scottish clubs’ coefficient following the defeat to PSV, though, as it could mean the SPFL runner-up will now have to endure another round of Champions League qualifying from the season after next.

Frustrating
It will no doubt be frustrating for Scottish sides to learn that another round of Champions League qualifying could be required to come through if they finish second in the league.
It’s incredibly likely that the team in question will be either the Gers or Celtic, with the chances of two SPFL outfits competing in European football’s premium competition starting to look like potentially being a distant memory.
The cash injection for coming in as a high-seeded side for the Europa League will be a welcome boost, but there is no doubt that the Light Blues would’ve preferred to be playing in the Champions League, even if they do have a much better chance of making it through in the second-tier trophy.

The defeat to PSV left huge question marks over a number of the new signings and opened up a debate around Michael Beale’s capability to lead the side.
The attention now turns to the Old Firm and a victory over Celtic feels like a must now for the Gers boss to relieve some of the pressure that the Eindhoven humbling has ramped up.
In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist was far from impressed with what one player did against PSV.
