Jamie O’Hara pleads for more Rangers signings as he digs out midfielder John Lundstram after defeat v PSV
Jamie O’Hara has criticised Rangers midfielder John Lundstram following his side’s crushing defeat to PSV on Wednesday (30 August).
Speaking on talkSPORT’s The Sports Bar Show on Wednesday, the pundit said the 29-year-old has been “brilliant” during his time with the Gers, but he believes now is the time to bring in “better players”.
The Englishman wasn’t at his best after starting in central midfield in the 5-1 defeat to the Dutch side, with the Light Blues now set to play in the Europa League this season.
“Come on, getting beat 5-1 isn’t good enough for me,” said O’Hara. “Lundstram in midfield, yeah alright he has been a brilliant player.
“But there has to be a point now where they start looking and going ‘right, we need some better players, we have to attract some better players’.”
Younger option
There are a number of players that deserve to be dug out for their performance against PSV as, quite frankly, just about everyone was poor for Rangers on the night.
Unfortunately for Lundstram, he also falls into that category after being given the nod ahead of Ryan Jack in the middle of the park.
The Englishman was so far off the pace and didn’t do a great job of protecting his defenders behind him, as attacking midfielder Ismael Saibari largely ran the show and scored two goals for the Dutch outfit.

Perhaps O’Hara is right and it is time to invest in a younger, hungrier player to anchor the midfielder, with Lundstram showing signs that his best days may be behind him and Jack being on the wrong side of 30.
It’s unlikely that is a path the Light Blues will go down just yet with only one day left in this transfer market, but it could be something for them to think about moving forward.
In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist was far from impressed with what one player did against PSV.
