Rangers transfer news as Leon King loan exit update emerges

Queens Park Rangers are one of many clubs who want to sign Rangers defender Leon King before the deadline, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport journalist claims that several Championship clubs are in the running for his signature, with a loan exit now looking likely.

It was also shared that Michael Beale’s knowledge of the English leagues, having been QPR manager before swapping London for Glasgow, will help the club find the right move for King.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT on 31 August, Jones claimed: “It looks likely. It’s all about personal development and growth for him this season. They want him to continue to build his character in the game.

“Beale has a good understanding of clubs within the Football League ladder that could probably help with that in England.

“I think a club in the Championship would be good. I did hear that there is some potential around QPR and a few others, so I think something will happen. And I think he’s good for many teams in the Championship because he can be versatile across the backline if needed.”

A long-winded swap deal

When King suffered an injury in pre-season that was set to rule him out for a number of weeks, Rangers landed a swoop for out-of-contract defender Leon Balogun, who had spent a season with QPR and may have extended his deal before the Glasgow giants came calling.

Now, with King set to return from his injury, the West London side could knock on Rangers’ door, in what would essentially see the two defenders swap places, for the coming season at least.

Beale could be doing his old club a favour, having left them in a tough spot when he decided to return north of the border, with QPR dropping from as high as top spot under Beale, to barely surviving relegation with new manager Gareth Ainsworth.

King would be a top addition to the West London side, as he would sure up their defensive unit while learning and developing his game in a highly competitive league under a manager who likes to prioritise his defence.

Beale’s previous experience at QPR means he will still have contacts at the club, which may make things easier should they wish to line up this loan move for the 19-year-old.

In other Rangers news, another late exit is expected to go through in the coming days.
