Darrell Currie questions new Rangers signings amid Michael Beale rebuild
Darrell Currie has questioned the new Rangers signings after they were emphatically beaten by PSV in their Champions League qualifier on Wednesday (30 August).
The Scottish football presenter tweeted on 30 August after the 5-1 defeat to the Dutch side that the Gers are “miles off” the form they put together on the way to reaching the Europa League final in 2022.
He said question marks remain over the majority of the new signings after Michael Beale has overseen an overhaul of his squad at Ibrox this summer.
“Everyone keeps on talking about ‘levels’, but this is PSV not PSG,” said Currie. “Rangers are miles off their EL form of two seasons ago.
“Question marks remain over the majority of the new signings. No guarantee of a good run in the EL at this rate.”
No arguments
There can’t really be any arguments with just about everything Currie said in his tweet after Rangers were extremely poor as a collective against PSV.
Just a year ago, the Light Blues went to Eindhoven and claimed a 1-0 victory on their way to making the Champions League group stages, so this result proves they have gone backwards since that point.
Michael Beale has been backed by the board during this transfer window to bring in who he wants and, for the majority of those players, it hasn’t really worked so far in Glasgow.

Currie is right that there are no guarantees that they will be able to compete in the Europa League this season on the back of their unconvincing displays in the Champions League qualifiers.
The Gers boss is going to have to find a way of ensuring his side and the new additions compete better in that competition, otherwise, his job will be on the line.
In other Rangers news, a pundit has urged the club to sign upgrades as one star is named.
