Pat Nevin shares ‘very good’ Rangers verdict for Champions League clash v PSV
Rangers have a “very good” chance of overcoming PSV in their Champions League play-off tie, according to Pat Nevin.
The Gers travel to the Netherlands for the second leg of their European tie on Wednesday (30 August), having drawn 2-2 in the first leg.
The two clubs went head to head at the same stage last season, with Rangers winning 3-2 on aggregate following a 2-2 draw at Ibrox.

“The good thing for Rangers is they’ve been there before last season against PSV Eindhoven, and it’s the same scenario after a draw in the first leg,” Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 Live, as quoted by BBC Sport.
“So [Rangers] have a very good chance. Technically [Eindhoven] were very good in the first game but who cares about technical in a cup game when it’s a knockout? It’s about getting through.
“Certainly Michael Beale is in what could be the most important week of his career at Rangers.”

Huge week
It is indeed a huge week for Beale and everyone associated with Rangers, not just in the short-term but also in the long-term. Beale has made massive changes at Ibrox this summer, with so much movement in both directions.
His new players have had mixed fortunes so far at Ibrox, but previous matches count for nothing, with the PSV clash all that matters right now.
Getting through to the Champions League group stages will be hugely significant for the Scottish club for several reasons, with the financial aspect perhaps top of the list.
Aside from the financial incentive, playing in Europe’s premier competition will allow the gers to battle it out against some of the top teams in world football.
Then, regardless of what happens in the Netherlands, Beale’s men must recover as soon as possible, with fierce rivals Celtic awaiting them in league action, with the first Old Firm derby of the season taking place on Sunday (3 August).
In other Rangers news, Steven Davis has sent a message to Ianis Hagi following the latter’s loan exit from the Ibrox club.
