Daniel Farke wants to ‘team up’ Rangers ace Glen Kamara with Celtic rival Matt O’Riley after Leeds United bids

Glen Kamara is now on the “brink” of a Rangers exit and is in line to be paired with Celtic counterpart Matt O’Riley after he leaves, according to the Scottish Sun.

The paper reported on their website on 30 August that the Ibrox ace’s move is almost complete, and that a first bid from Elland Road for the Hoops man had been tabled.

Daniel Farke reportedly wants to “team up” Kamara, 27, with the 22-year-old Dane from Parkhead in the Championship, with further offers on the cards in the remaining hours before the window shuts.

Rangers

Kamara is supposed to be completing a £5million move to England before the transfer deadline in a deal that has been in the offing for weeks.

United

It is a novel plan by the German to pluck a midfielder from either side of the Old Firm rivalry and pair them in the same midfield but that appears to be the idea at Leeds.

Kamara certainly looks like the more likely half of that equation to be in place by 2 September given he hasn’t played a single minute for Michael Beale this term.

On the other hand O’Riley has already made four Celtic appearances and scored twice since Brendan Rodgers returned, but if the Whites put enough money on the table before the deadline it can’t be ruled out.

Rangers

However, at the current rate of progress neither man could end up making the trip south since we are now yet another day closer to the window closing and Kamara is as-yet still a Rangers player.

Both he and the Light Blues are going to end up hugely frustrated if something scuppers the switch to Leeds at the last minute and leaves him stranded in Glasgow, where it looks like Kamara and Beale have already mentally moved on.

But all bets are off when it comes to the final hours of the transfer window, and having unexpectedly reached this late stage without confirmation of the move it now has to be possible that there is a disappointing outcome.

In other Rangers news, a late possible signing is “excited” to join the Gers with the club trying to bring him to Ibrox before the deadline.
