Rangers now at ‘closing stages’ of Glen Kamara transfer after personal terms agreed with Leeds United – Chris Jack

Rangers are in the “closing stages” of their talks to sell Glen Kamara to Leeds United, with personal terms already agreed, according to Chris Jack.

Writing on The Herald’s website on Monday (28 August) the journalist reported that the 27-year-old midfielder is now set to “clinch” a £5million move to Elland Road.

With Leon King also expected to move to England on loan Jack suggests that the two departures could now be the “last ones” that Michael Beale completes this summer.

Kamara hasn’t featured at all yet under the Gers boss this season with his future widely expected to lie away from Ibrox for some weeks now.

The Light Blues have already sold Antonio Colak and Fashion Sakala to boost their budget, with multiple others leaving on free transfers, while nine new men have come in.

At last

Since Leeds have appeared to be the most likely destination for the Finland international for at least the past month it is odd that the move has come right down close to the wire in late August if he is indeed set to end up at the Championship side.

Beale could surely have used the money earlier in the window if he had his eye on any late incoming deals, as it doesn’t look like there will be time to do so unless something is lined up to push through immediately.

There doesn’t look to be any obvious impediments here since Rangers have moved on in their midfield with the likes of Nico Raskin and Jose Cifuentes, Leeds need new additions in theirs after multiple departures, and Kamara himself has apparently already agreed to move.

So it looks like the next step of his career will be in England, and he will surely leave with the best wishes of the fanbase having generated a significant profit in Scotland after arriving from Dundee for just £50,000 in 2019.

He has been linked to moves to various destinations in each of the past few transfer windows, but with Beale making fairly clear this summer that he expected an exit it will be a relief for all concerned when it is finalised at last.

Daniel Farke’s promotion project has long seemed the logical destination for Kamara this summer and it sounds like it is finally about to come to fruition.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are now “definitely one of the frontrunners” to land another late signing before the window shuts, despite messages from the club.
