Rangers could make late move for forgotten Leicester defender Harry Souttar
Rangers could be set to make a late move to sign Leicester City defender Harry Souttar, who arrived at the club for £15million in January, as he was left out yet again for Leicester’s 2-1 win against Rotherham.
The Daily Record shared on 26 August that several Leicester players could be set to leave the club in the final week of the transfer window, even if only on loan after Enzo Maresca admitted they would have to let some go.
Souttar has not featured for the Midlands club this season, and Football Scotland report [27 August] that he could “jump at the chance” to play alongside his brother, John, in Glasgow.

Rangers boss Michael Beale also sparked discussion surrounding the potential deal for Souttar, after he told Sky Sports (as reported by Leicestershire Live): “There’s been a little bit in terms of one or two names out there. There’s been a little bit of truth in that but nothing for us to confirm right now.”
Fans jumped to the conclusion that Souttar was the player Beale was hinting at after rumours had intensified in recent days before his comments.
The Australian international centre-back who impressed fans at the 2022 World Cup, which earned him a move to Leicester before they were relegated from the Premier League, could be an option for the Glasgow club as Beale looks to add reinforcements to his defence.

New defenders have been the recent priority for Rangers after spending the majority of this summer bringing in attacking players and midfielders, with Leon Balogun also returning to the club to provide cover in defence.
The Rangers boss is keen to bolster his defensive options after a shaky start to the season, with individual errors costing them points, particularly against Livingston, and including pre-season games where his back line struggled for consistency.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton was wowed by “majestic” Rangers players against Ross County.
