Cryptic train station tweet emerges as Ianis Hagi gets ready for Rangers loan exit

Deportivo Alaves have posted a cryptic tweet of a train station as Ianis Hagi is set to undergo a medical at the La Liga club ahead of a move away from Rangers.

The Athletic reported on Twitter on Sunday (27 August) that the 24-year-old will join the Spanish side on a straight season-long loan with no option for a permanent deal agreed.

This comes after the Romanian international has fallen out of favour under Gers boss Michael Beale and recently admitted he has become unhappy at his lack of game time.

All but done

It looks as though a deal to take Hagi to Alaves is all but done after the latest developments that have emerged over the past few days.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on 21 August ahead of the Champions League playoff game against PSV, Beale said a move could be something he looks into for the winger before the transfer window closes.

The Romanian expressed his unhappiness at his lack of game time prior to the League Cup victory over Morton on 19 August, with the Rangers boss admitting that he has held “honest chats” with him about his future.

It seemed pretty inevitable that he would end up leaving Ibrox this summer after those admissions and that day appears to have arrived.

Since signing from Belgian side Genk in 2020 for £3million, the winger has scored 16 goals and laid on 21 assists in 98 appearances in a light blue shirt.

He has shown that he can be a quality operator on his day – primarily during Steven Gerrard’s time in charge – but moving him on looks to be the best option for everyone.

In other Rangers news, a pundit was stunned by what one player did in the victory over Ross County.
