BBC Sportscene pundit stunned by ‘incredible’ Rangers situation after watching footage v Ross County
Neil McCann was stunned to see Kemar Roofe start against Ross County given the forward options in the Rangers squad.
Speaking on BBC Sportscene (41m42s) on Saturday (26 August), the pundit said it was “incredible” to see the 30-year-old get the nod in the 2-0 win in Dingwall.
But he added that the Jamaican international took his chance by scoring the opener in the 22nd minute to give Michael Beale “something to think about” moving forward.

“It’s quite incredible,” said McCann. “Danilo comes in, Dessers, Lammers, Sima – and Roofe gets a chance today and scores. He’s given his manager something to think about, that’s for sure.”
Bodes well
There is no doubt that a fit and firing Roofe bodes well for Rangers as they look to compete well in Europe and challenge for the SPFL title this season.
The forward scored a superb goal from a corner to help his side settle into the game, as he acrobatically got on the end of a ball into the far post to guide it into the bottom corner.
That is what he has in his locker, though, and Gers fans know better than anyone that he is a top finisher on his day if you can keep him fit.

Roofe has scored 37 goals and laid on six assists in 81 appearances for the Light Blues since arriving from Belgian side Anderlecht in 2020 and he will be hoping to build upon that total.
McCann is right to point out that he has given Beale something to think about in the coming weeks, but it is a healthy situation to be in as the Gers now have a number of excellent forward options to choose from.
