Glen Kamara to leave Rangers in coming days, Leeds United still leading chase

Glen Kamara is expected to complete his move from Rangers to Leeds United in the coming days, according to the Daily Record.

The Finland midfielder has been linked with a move to the Championship club throughout the transfer window, although Yorkshire Evening Post writer Graham Smyth described it as a “weird one” and things had gone “quiet” in a Tweet posted on Friday (25 August).

The Scottish Sun had previously reported a £5.5m bid had been launched and the Record (26 August, page 54) said the deal should still go through.

“Kamara hasn’t played this season and is finally expected to leave Ibrox four years after joining from Dundee in the coming days, with Leeds understood to be leading the chase,” the report read.

Time to wind this one up

Frankly this one has been a deal that has dragged on far too and long and it is pretty inexplicable as to why that has been the case.

The fee for Kamara is a relatively modest one for a side who have the financial means to get the deal done with parachute payments coming in following their relegation from the Premier League.

Rangers have brought in nine new players during the transfer window and really the focus needs to be on shipping a few out now before they think about any new incomings otherwise Michael Beale’s squad is going to be bloated and unworkable.

Kamara is an obvious one to move on. Leeds need reinforcements in central midfield, Rangers do not have a spot for him in their squad. On the face it, this should be about as straight forward as a transfer can be.

But, as always seems to be the case in football, it has been held up for reasons still not really known. For the benefit of everyone, including Kamara himself, it is definitely time to get this one wound up.

In other Rangers news, a £4million update on Ianis Hagi has emerged at Ibrox.
