Celtic fans embarrass themselves again in latest Rangers banner stunt
Celtic fans unfurled a new banner on Saturday 26 August criticising Rangers once again, this time over the offer of 700 away tickets for the first Old Firm derby of the season.
The Scottish Sun shared that Celtic fans had unfurled a banner at Parkhead during the 0-0 draw with St Johnstone, stating “They killed their club. They’re killing the derby. Bring back old allocations.”
There is a certain amount of irony to their criticism since it was reported by The Scottish Sun on 17 August that Celtic have blocked any Rangers fans from attending the return fixture later in the season, and were the ones to reject the current offer.

Neither club are willing to give up their stance in the ongoing saga, with Celtic standing firm, while Rangers have appealed to the SPFL demanding their allocation for the return match, as article i27 states they are entitled to tickets, but are yet to get a response.
The irony behind the banners cannot be missed. After all, it was Celtic who kicked off the current off-field battle. Both clubs, however, must swallow their pride and take positive steps in the ongoing negotiations between the clubs, as it is in the best interest of both sets of fans.
Celtic would previously have been allocated the entire Broomloan Stand at Ibrox, bringing a travelling group of 8,000 fans, but Rangers would prefer to give the majority of their seats to their own fans, with away teams given a smaller section.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers hinted he would prefer the allocations to return to what they used to be as he stated: “I’ve got my own views, having felt the atmosphere and everything with it.” This, one would expect, is the overriding feeling of both sets of fans.
Having both sets of fans attending the biggest games of the season always makes them better. As hostile as things are, the rival fanbases singing against each other, and scenes of celebration are always an addition to a game that needs no invitation to fly off the handle.
This is just embarrassing.
