Rangers reverse Ross McCausland transfer decision, now part of Michael Beale plans

Rangers have decided against loaning out Ross McCausland this summer due to his form for the B team, according to Anthony Joseph.

The Sky Sports News journalist reported on August 7 that Rangers were open to loan offers for McCausland, with teams in Scotland, Belgium and England showing an interest.

However, in an update posted on his Twitter page on Thursday [24 August], Joseph stated that Michael Beale is now prepared to give the 20-year-old a first-team chance in a big U-turn by the club.

“Rangers are now likely to keep winger Ross McCausland at the club beyond this transfer window,” the tweet read.

“A number of clubs have made loan enquiries. But it’s understood McCausland’s form for the B team has impressed Michael Beale, who sees him being an option for the 1st team.”

Chance to shine

McCausland joined Rangers’ Academy from Linfield in the summer of 2019 and has made a couple of senior appearances, both coming in the Scottish Premiership.

The Northern Irishman impressed for the Gers’ B side in pre-season, but there had been doubts over whether he was ready to make the step up to senior football at this stage.

A loan move appeared to be the most natural step for all involved, but McCausland has clearly done enough to catch the eye of Beale and could now play a part for the first team this season.

Rangers are not exactly short of forward players at the moment, but the jury is still out on most of their summer signings, so McCausland may get a chance to impress once the fixtures start coming thick and fast.

Even if he is only used as only an impact player at this point, McCausland could yet play an important part for Beale’s men this campaign.
