Todd Cantwell slammed in ‘got out of jail’ verdict in Rangers Champions League draw v PSV
Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell “got out of jail” in the club’s Champions League clash against PSV, according to BBC pundit Neil McCann.
The Scottish side drew 2-2 with the Netherlands outfit in their play-off first leg match at Ibrox on Tuesday (22 August).
But McCann believes Cantwell should have been handed a second yellow card for a late challenge on PSV full-back Sergino Dest.

“I tell you what he has got out of jail I think here,” McCann said live on BBC Sportsound, as quoted by the Daily Record. “His heart must be beating.
“It’s a yellow card all day long and the referee has done him a real favour. A rush of blood to the head of Cantwell.”

Lucky
Cantwell was very lucky not to be shown a second booking by referee Clement Turpin at Ibrox. The former Norwich City ace was handed a yellow card by the man in the middle in the 57th minute, before making a desperate lunge at Dest not long after.
The midfielder was perhaps as surprised as anyone that Turpin decided to keep his cards in his pocket on this occasion, with the referee instead giving the Rangers star one final warning.
Cantwell was one of four Gers players to be handed yellow cards on a feisty night in Scotland, where the hosts held their own against the Dutch giants.
Three of the back four for the home side finished the match on yellows, proving just how difficult it was for Michael Beale’s defence at times.
The man in the Ibrox dugout then made a smart decision in the 86th minute, avoiding a red card for Cantwell by replacing him with Sam Lammers.
In other Rangers news, new Championship competition has emerged for one Gers player linked with an Ibrox exit this summer.
