Rangers injury news as Tom Lawrence returns to action Ibrox blow
Tom Lawrence made his first start in over a year as he captained the Rangers B team against a Hamilton Academics XI, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (23 August) that the former Derby County man is closing in on full fitness having scored and led the Gers’ second-team in his first start since a 4-0 win against Ross County on 27 August last year.
Michael Beale has said that Lawrence is still a way away from returning to first-team action and the Welshman will be unable to play in the second leg of Rangers’ Champions League clash with PSV having been left out of the European squad.

It was shared that Lawrence was playing with heavy strapping over his hamstring but caught the eye as he nears his first-team return at Ibrox soon.
Kent solution
Beale has been vocal about his desire to sign a Ryan Kent replacement before the transfer window closes on 1 September and although Lawrence and the Englishman are very different players, he could help fill the hole.
Lawrence provides whatever team he plays in with a goal threat, whether deployed out wide or just behind the striker and if he can replicate the form he produced in front of goal at Pride Park he could have a similar impact to a new signing.

In his last season in the Championship, the 29-year-old scored 11 goals in 38 matches for what was an incredibly poor Derby team and in a much more talented Rangers team he should at least manage to reach double figures between now and the end of the season.
Until he is fully fit, Lawrence will provide an excellent example for the young players on the blue side of Glasgow to learn from as an experienced professional and former captain. He will be an excellent addition to any Rangers team he is a part of.
In other Rangers news, one Turkish club has approached Ianis Hagi as the midfielder is set to depart Ibrox
