BBC journalist shares ‘blood and sweat’ Rangers verdict after 2-2 Champions League draw v PSV
Rangers were “second best” in their Champions League play-off first leg clash with PSV, according to BBC journalist Richard Winton.
Michael Beale’s outfit drew 2-2 with the Eredivisie giants in their European encounter at Ibrox on Tuesday (22 August).
Abdallah Sima and Rabbi Matondo found the back of the net for the hosts, with Ibrahim Sangare and Luuk de Jong on target for the visitors.

The second leg will take place in Eindhoven next Wednesday (30 August), with the winner securing a place in the group stages.
“They were second best for much of this game – more blood and sweat than pass and move at times – but demonstrated admirable resolve to eke out a creditable result,” Winton wrote for BBC Sport.

Many Rangers fans may have been fearing the worst going into the first leg clash with PSV given how both clubs have started the new season.
The Gers have been nowhere near their best in all competitions, with the worst result so far coming on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership campaign with a 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock.
PSV meanwhile have been flying, and they have been for quite some time, with the Dutch side full of confidence heading into the match at Ibrox.
But the power of fans was on show in Glasgow, with the home supporters roaring their team on in what was a thrilling evening under the lights.
The hosts more than held their own against PSV’s attacking talents more often than not, although they will still be disappointed to have conceded twice on home turf.
But Michael Beale may just focus on his own attack, with Sima and Matondo scoring stunning goals to keep the Gers in the tie.
In other Rangers news, new Championship competition has emerged for one Gers player linked with an Ibrox exit this summer.
