Rangers transfer news as one final move may be on the cards at Ibrox

Rangers may be set to make one final signing this summer as Michael Beale looks for a cherry on the cake of a busy transfer window, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday (22 August) that Beale is in the final stages of his rebuild this summer with it being more likely that players depart Ibrox before the window closes than come through the door.

Beale has been busy this summer with nine new additions at Ibrox as he attempts to revolutionise his squad to pip Celtic to the title in the upcoming campaign, but there does remain a chance the Gers may dip into the market once again.

Discussing the Light Blues’ position in the market, the Record wrote: “Michael Beale is putting the finishing touches on his Rangers rebuild with more exits than outgoing likely.

“There may be one player out there who could be the cherry on the revamp cake after a busy summer. But an exit of Ianis Hagi is on the cards.”

The Kent replacement

Beale has been vocal in his belief that Rangers need a replacement for Ryan Kent before the transfer window closes, with a quicker option wanted in the wide areas to lessen the impact of the Englishman’s departure earlier in the summer.

The issue with trying to bring a winger into Ibrox is the price, with it being one of the more expensive positions to buy quality and as previously mentioned, Rangers have already spent heavily this summer to improve their attacking options.

What could be crucial in any potential late business between now and the end of the transfer window is the Light Blues’ position in Europe if they can pip PSV to the Champions League group stage, they may have extra money to spend.

You would imagine given Rangers and Beale’s activity in the transfer market so far this summer, they’ll already have a list of options should they have the funds to add to their squad. The crucial thing will be ensuring that any incomings are better than those who are already at Ibrox, as there are already too many players stuck on the fringes.
